Research groups
The various members of the institute form research groups, some of which have institutional recognition. Specifically, the Regional Government of Castile and León, through Order EDU/1006/2014, regulates recognition as a Consolidated Research Unit (UIC), and the University of Valladolid establishes the procedure (approved by the Governing Council on September 28, 2009) for classification as a Recognized Research Group (GIR). Currently, the institute has representation from two UICs and six GIRs, as indicated below. Other thematic groups formed by ITAP members are also listed.
Analysis and diagnosis of electrical and networks
Electricity is the most widely used type of energy today. Due to the effects of global warming and pollution caused by the use of other types of energy, electric energy is undergoing significant development in all fields.
Fluids engineering
The purpose of this Research Group is to bring together a number of researchers with experience in the field of Fluid Engineering. This experience is supported by numerous regional and national research projects, contracts with companies and prestigious publications.
Structural dynamics
El Grupo de Dinámica Estructural tiene experiencia en técnicas de modelado y simulación, en ensayos estáticos y dinámicos, en calibrado de modelos computacionales y en generación de modelos reducidos. Los algoritmos de modelado de acciones no deterministas permiten la introducción de la acción peatonal y del viento en los modelos, incluyendo interacción, lo que permite dimensionar y estimar el desempeño de estructuras esbeltas en condiciones realistas a lo largo de su vida útil.

The purpose of the group is to promote and coordinate the research of a consolidated team of professors, oriented to discrete signal processing in the areas of array processing, acoustic biometry and detection and tracking systems (Radar, Sonar, etc.)

This group focuses its research on medical robotics. More specifically, it studies collaborative and autonomous surgery and rehabilitation robotics.

Thermal engineering
The objectives of this group are:
– Reducir el consumo de energía en la edificación, disminuyendo el impacto medioambiental por la utilización de energía en los edificios.
– Analizar las condiciones del ambiente interior que permitan mejorar las condiciones del entorno donde se desenvuelve la actividad de las personas.
– Difundir todos aquellos aspectos técnicos y resultados de investigación mediante la publicación de artículos y la asistencia a congresos de expertos.
– Difusión mediante cursos específicos de conocimientos específicos en los campos donde se desarrolla su actividad investigadora.
