Goals
The goals of the institute are:
The generation, transfer and dissemination of new knowledge in the field of engineering in its broad sense. Through its lines of research, the institute has integrative activity between fields such as industrial production engineering and automatic control of complex processes, social, hospital and medical robotics, environmental technology, hygrothermal conditioning and energy quality, simulation and modeling of complex systems, maintenance of infrastructure and heritage, etc.
The collaboration with other institutions of the University of Valladolidin the development of master's and doctoral programs, as well as other specialization and continuing training courses, are also objectives of the institute.
It will carry out dissemination activities in a way that guarantees social visibility. Likewise, to evaluate their productivity, quantifiable scientific objectives will be pursued (scientific publications, patents, competitive research projects and contracts with companies and institutions, without forgetting the preparation of master's thesis and doctoral theses, as well as the specialized training of researchers and technologists).
Mission: Research in the modeling of complex systems, in environmental and energy technologies and in social and medical robotics, enabling the effective transfer of knowledge and technology in these fields of industrial engineering, acting as a bridge between university research and the innovation necessary for institutions and companies.
Vision: ITAP is an effective bridge that connects technological knowledge in the field of industrial engineering with the needs of companies and institutions in terms of modeling complex systems, environmental technologies, energy, and social and medical robotics.
Research areas: ITAP members work in different areas of engineering, which can be grouped into the following three major research areas:
Robotics and medical engineering
- Robotics and intelligent manipulation
- Machine learning
- Social and healthcare robotics
- Medical robotics
- Robotics for rehabilitation
- Hospital engineering
Modeling of complex systems
- Advanced controllers in process industries.
- Modeling of slender structures and model calibration (static, modal and dynamic)
- Intelligent Structures and SHM (Structural Health Monitoring).
- Obtaining models that combine physiological signals to predict health problems.
- Development of functional rehabilitation assistance systems.
- Predictive systems in clinical pathologies (prediction of the risk of rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms,…)
- Complex systems and optimization
- Analysis and Diagnosis of Electrical Installations and Networks
Environmental technologies and energy
- Power distribution and its quality
- Residential interior hygrothermal conditioning
- Photocatalysis processes and combination with membrane technology for water treatment.
- Development of bioreactors and waste co-digestion processes.
- Biomass as a source of energy. Revaluation of waste. Energy crops
- Energy certification
- Energy diversification
Training: ITAP channels its training activities for university technologists and researchers by carrying out numerous final degree, master's and doctoral theses on the institute's own subject matter and directed by its members.
